Logo merchandise
May 10, 2008 – 4:36 pmThe semester has finally come to a close and I am really thankful that it has. It’s been an interesting trip this year. I had no real idea of what to expect when I came to college since no one in my family had ever gone to college before me and what I knew I learned from Animal house and other ridiculous college movies. Since I have been here I am really enjoying the whole experience and have set myself to stay away from that stereotypical lifestyle of college. The people I know who live that life have not turned out so well as students or as people. I generally like to keep to my studies as much as possible. That’s why I am one of the few people actually excited to start summer school in a couple of weeks. One of my three classes this summer is going to be really cool. It’s a marketing experiential class in which you are out in charge of designing a tradeshow. Basically you have to come up with a product market and figure out how you would lay out a whole show. At the end of the class all of the various production groups will come together for an actual show together. We have to each design promotional products, logo merchandise, and what we would actually use as promotional gifts at these shows. I am excited to see where it takes me because we all have to design and create some type of simple tradeshow giveaway items for the other groups to get as they get a chance to circulate through our class show. It sounds like a lot of work right now but I think that above all else it is going to be a great organizational and creative experience for me. I have never thought about marketing or about trying to sell anything so this will give some new impressions about the way we market goods to the individual and the larger firms. Other than that class all of my others are going to be relatively mild in their content. They’re all required courses that I just wanted to get out of the way for the summer.
