Lucca apartments

April 10, 2008 – 4:12 pm

Many people are afraid to travel to European destinations from the US these days.  There is really no great risk to do this.  Most European countries are good to US tourists and treat them well.  A friend of mine went to Europe last summer and had a great time.  She said it was the trip of a lifetime.  She had the best time especially in Italy and had talked a lot about that trip since she returned.  She is actually considering moving to Italy after we graduate; now that is really quite an adventure.

She is not sure which part of Italy to move to since all the areas are so different from each other.  She loves Venice and would like to go there if she can, but she says that Venice apartments are very expensive and that it would be difficult to find work there.  Venice, she says, is a most beautiful city. Built on water, there is an elaborate layout of canals (the ones they ride to gondolas on) that the people there use as roads to travel on.  The way she tells it, this is a very magical place.

She also loves Tuscany, with its rolling hills, she says it is very laid back there.  With lots of old churches and beautiful scenery, very peaceful.  She really loves a town called Lucca, but she says that Lucca apartments are hard to come by.  She will have to really search, if she wants to live in this area.

Then of course is Rome, but she feels that although this is a great place to visit and a must see area of Italy, she thinks that to live in Rome apartments, will mean a lot of tourists around and pestering.  She feels that this would be a less serene more chaotic area of Italy to live in.

Lastly, is Florence.  I think that to live in Florence, will probably suit her best.  Florence is an artsy area.  It has lots of galleries and shops, and still has that small town feeling to it.  She also says that Florence apartments are the nicest for the price that she had seen.

I think that no matter where she chooses to live, in Italy, that it will really suit her.  I am sure that if she does move, I will have an opportunity to travel to visit and get to see all these things first hand.  It will be pretty interesting, since I don’t speak any Italian at all.  Now that will definitely be an adventure.
