Acting auditions

Modeling is a very tough field to get into.  I think there are a lot of pretty people in world, but many of them would never make it as a model.  I guess that is why they offer modeling schools.  I wonder how modeling agency choose their models.  Do they work off a set of criteria? Does it matter whether you have been to modeling school or not?

Modeling jobs must be some of the easiest jobs per dollar.  I mean all you have to do is starve yourself, put on glamorous clothes, sit while someone styles your hair and does your make-up, and then smile a lot.  These models make big bucks and it seems to me to just a bit fake.  I know many wish to be actresses and probably go to open casting calls and auditions and stuff.  Then of course you always hear about hanky panky with the casting directors.  I never can tell whether this stuff is true or just media hype.  I just think that there should be more to this than just are you pretty.  I personally like people with substance.  I tend to find more male actors that I like as opposed to female ones.  It seems to me every time I see an interview with a female actress or model, who is really pretty and usually blonde, they just giggle and sound dumb.  I really can’t stand it.

I really object people who put their children, especially babies into modeling and acting.  Although they may be adorable, it just seems to me that when I have kids I will want them to know who they are before people start objectifying them.  I think you must have a strong sense of self and good self esteem to be able to handle being in the public eye all the time.  I think this is why so many child stars have problems.  I don’t think their parents ever really thought about the decisions that they were making on behalf of these kids.  I have seen some stage parents on TV and quite frankly they scare me.  I can’t imagine how those children must feel.  There is nothing wrong with encouraging a child to achieve their goals, but presetting their goals for them seems a little extreme.

I just hope that if you ever decide to pursue this type of career, either for yourself or for a future child that you tread very carefully.  There are snakes in this beautiful rose garden!
