For homework, you will be studying grammar points; doing selected workbook exercises based on your diagnostic test results; doing textbook exercises; doing review/self tests; and working on the first and final drafts of your essays

For each Part, you will:

  1. take a pre-test and a post-test (final test). The pre-tests will be a homework assignment corrected by you, using an answer key distributed by the instructor; the post-tests will be part of the midterm and final exams corrected and graded by the instructor.
  2. do textbook exercises in class and for homework. Generally, these will be corrected by you, as the textbook comes with an answer key.
  3. do workbook exercises for homework. You will correct the assignments, enter the score on the workbook exercise scoresheet and submit the scoresheet as directed by the instructor.
  4. do grammar exercises on the computer in class on every other Friday.
  5. write at least two drafts of an essay and peer review a classmate's essay. (Note - there will be no essay assignment for Part VIII; thus, there will be a total of three essay assignments.) When submitting the final draft of the essay, attach all previous drafts, notes, outlines, peer reviews, writing assistant reports, etc. I want to see everything you did to produce the final draft. The final draft must be word-processed; preliminary drafts do not. After getting the final draft back, you can then continue to re-write your essay and re-submit if you want to try to improve the essay grade. You can re-write as many times as you like up until June 2.
