  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, expected graduation: June 2010. Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR (September 2004-present).

  • Diploma [M.S.] in Control Theory and Control Engineering, June 2002. Guangxi University, Nanning, China (September 1999 -June, 2002).

  • Diploma [B.S.] in Information and Communication Engineering, July 1999. Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China (September 1995 - July 1999).

Research    interests

  • Scientific Visualization, Vector Field Visualization and Analysis, Vector Field Design and Applications, Tensor Field Design and its Applications, Geometric Modeling and Processing.

Projects

  • Vector field visualization, analysis and design on surfaces (April 2005 - present)

        Advisor: Dr. Eugene Zhang

Collaborators: Dr. Konstantin Mischaikow and Dr. Robert S. Laramee.

Please go to the project webpage for more detail. http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~zhange/periodic_orbit.html

The demo program can be found in the following webpage. http://oregonstate.edu/~cheng/vfanalysis.HTM

  • Applying database transaction technology to the collaborative environment (09/2003-09/2004) (supported by Guangxi University)

I was the lead researcher and project manager. This project focused on the collaboration in gird-computing environment. The environment was constructed in the graphics and image lab using Globus 2.2 in Linux operating system. The middleware of data management was developed using J2EE. Its functionality included basic query, data operating, transaction management, consistency maintenance, failure process and etc.

  • The component technology of parallel and distributed engineering database (supported by natural science foundation of Guangxi, China). (March 2001 - June 2002)

        Advisor: Taoshen Li

I was in charge of the research of the transaction process theories in the cooperative engineering database (especially distributed database).

  • The genetic optimization of the deep foundation pit supporting system in building  construction (supported by natural science foundation of China). (March 2001 - June 2002)

        Advisor: Taoshen Li

I was in charge of the CAD interface (output) of the system. Considering the special requirement of the deep foundation pit design, the  ObjectARX2000 was used to extend AutoCAD 2000 to accommodate the need of the system.
