A Brief History
The OSU Women's Water Polo Club was started in 1999. However, the girls have always practiced with the boys during their season.

Location & Practice Times
The women's season is during winter term, and practices are held at Langton Pool. It is on Jefferson St. and is right across from the OSU Bookstore. As you walk towards Langton Hall, go downstairs to the basement area. There are men's and women's locker rooms down there as well as pool access.
Practices are usually held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7:00 PM till 9:00 PM. However, these times are subject to change depending on the available use of the facilities. Intramural water polo is also during this time, so sometimes games conflict with practices.
Club Fees
The officers of the club are responsible for collecting club fees. The Department of Recreational Sports provides some assistance with costs. However, because there are so many clubs available, it is simply not possible to fund all of them fully. Thus, a one time fee (per year) is required to help attain those costs. The fee is currently $40. However, depending on the tournaments that are attended or equipment costs, this fee might change.
Fundraising
Because there are costs for attending tournaments, the club needs to fundraise. This can be done through car washes, parking cars at events, selling Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, or any other idea that a team member might have. Although this might seem like a drag, it's a great way to get to know your teammates! Help is needed in this department so please help us!
Rules of the Game
Some basic facts
- There are six field players and one goalie in the water at a time per team.
- You can only touch the ball with one hand unless you are the goalie.
- Ball can't go underwater.
- No pushing off the bottom or off walls.
- No submerging people underwater.
- There is a 2m line, 4m line, 7m line, and half tank. People cannot go beyond the 2m line if you do not have the ball and are on offense. If you are on defense, you can go past the 2m line. A goalie cannot go beyond the half tank mark.
- If you are fouled past the 7m, you can quickly take a shot, but it has to be immediate.
- A goalie cannot use the cage or wall to his or her advantage. If this occurs, then a 4m penalty shot will occur.
- If you are fouled, or have fouled someone, then there is a 3 second wait before you can go after them.
- There are many different types of fouls, but these don't get you kicked out of a game.
- There are ejections. After 3, you are removed from the game.
