What Not to Do
From OSU Wiki
If you want to succeed in college take it from me, going to class is a must. I got kicked out of my first school for bad grades so I might know a thing or two about this. So, I may not know everything required to do well and I am by no means the best student on the Oregon State campus, but I can give you a few tips on what not to do.
1) Don't skip class on a regular basis because your professor is speaking in some wierd language. Chances are you either in your foreign language class, or a math class.
2) Don't spend your tuition money on vast quantities of adult beverages. The college will still want you to pay them. Don't sit in the back of the room. Sitting in the back of the room promotes falling asleep in class. Sleeping in class leads to drooling in class and believe me, girls do not find that attractive.
3) Don't replace the 24-hour study session with a 24-hour bender. Waking up in the Quad early Tuesday morning of finals week once is once too many times.
4) Don't get into the habit of putting off homework until "later". Later never comes.
5) Don't try to write a 25 page term paper in 13 hours. I average about 1 page per hour (with all research already finished) and a little math will show that I would need at least another 12 hours to finish.
6) Don't forget the real reason you chose to go to college. If you aren't sure what that is, then you should probably decide if you should be there in the first place, otherwise the motivation is missing.
7) Don't fail the same class more than once because you made all of the above mentioned mistakes more than once.
These are just some warnings based on personal experience. Don't do these things and you will have a little easier time staying out of trouble.
At the same time don't forget to have fun too. A wise man once told me: "Don't let school get in the way of your college education." Use that only in moderation though.
