Worship Wiki

I am a worship leader at Nothwest Hills Community Church in Corvallis, OR. I lead worhip and work with other college students on Tuesday nights in our college ministry, 2fortytwo. I noticed on the wiki list that there was not a wiki about worship music. I want to create a worship wiki so that other worship leaders like myself can have free access to worship charts and so that anyone can learn how to play popular worship songs. This wiki could also be useful to get ideas and wisdom from other worship leaders.

Some contributions could be:

Adding an online dirctory of music charts

Providing an area for new music to be presented

Providing an area for new ideas to be presented

Overview of my Wiki Contributions

I started a new page in the OSU wiki about area churches. I added this page to the OSU wiki under the Community secttion, then under the Off Campus section. I believe that this was a valuable contribution because at least one other person has already added another church to the page. I added this because so far there was no area for students to find out about the many churches in our community on the OSU wiki yet.

Create the Churches page

As of today only 1 onther person has jumped on this and added their church to the OSU wiki. I am a little dissapointed about this but could definately see this number growing in the future. There are more than 2 churches in the Corvallis area.

Add to the Community Service page

I added a bunch of info and links to Home Life Inc., a non profit company that serves adults with developmental dissabilities in our community.

Add to the Rate the Dorms page

Just left a little piece of my mind on this page.

Add to the Get Away For A Day page

Add some information about Dallas, OR, and some of the things to do there.

Add links for Eugene, Lincoln City, and Newport. I thought that it would be nice to have a quick external link here to help people get quick jump to more info about these towns.

Add to the Religious Groups page

Add a little blurb about 2fortytwo on this page. There was only one other religious group listed on this page.

Add to the Bike Paths & Hiking Trails page

Add some more info about some of the trails in the area that I have been on. Try to continue filling out this great wiki page.

Create the beginnings of a Volleyball page

Volleyball was not listed as a fall intramural sport so I listed it. Haven't done much work on it yet.

  • The idea is a great because it would really help out people it seems from what you say in your plan. I also agree that it could be a usefull location for other people in your same position who lead music and could come to a place to get or give ideas. I would be careful about what you mean for ideas to be presented; don't want the wiki to become a discussion board. Maybe specify what your intentions are with the new ideas portion.

  • I was confused by what you said. Do you want to put sheet music on the Internet so that people can learn how to physical play the music or how to download the music? I think you should clarify exactly what you want to put on your page and maybe think of a couple more things that you want to incorporate on your page as well in case their is not enough factual information involved. I also think you should be careful that the information that you put on your sight is factual and relevant rather than personal opinions. Other than that, I think that your idea has a lot of potential.

  • Great ideas so far! I think your wikiplan will be great but like what the other two mentors said, you don't want to make this as a discussion board. Also, maybe talk about how you are going to approach your ideas like, "Providing an area for new music", "Providing an area for new ideas to be presented," and "adding online directory of music charts."

  • I have notice you have made some great deal of significant changes in your OSU wiki. From looks of it, you have added a new picture of you (snowboarding), more information about the area location for churches. Clicking into your hyperlink of "church" gives me some good information about two churches. One about the Northwest Hills Community church and the Suburban Christian church. I like the idea how you listed the location for those two churches and the times and services that the church offers. The types of advice I would offer you is list some more churches that you can find and have the same type of information you offer from the other two previous churches. Maybe talk about the events they have, or what types of big contributions they made or impact on other peoples lives. I hope that gives you another good idea on your contributions. But overall, you have done a great job and keep it up!
