About Me

My name is Adam Dunlap and I am a Junior studying International Business with a minor in Spanish. I was born June 27, 1986 in Portland, Oregon (along with my tiwn sister Ericka) and have lived there all my life. But since my summer/fall study abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico I now consider Mexico to be my home as well. I speak Spanish, and I used to conversationally fluent in sign language but a lack of ASL classes at OSU has forced me to take on Chinese as my next big learning obstacle although I have yet to begin clases. I am planning to graduate in the Spring of 2007 and hope to pursue a career in international business at Nike, or some other reputable company such as Rolex. I have always played basketball but my new passion is Parkour. Computers also fascinate me.

My Wiki Plan

My wiki plan is to add an OSU Clubs section to the OSU wiki where students can post information and descriptions about formal and informal clubs on the OSU campus. In addition I would like to give begining descriptions of the Gymnastics Club and Parkour club in which I participate.

As I have analyzed the OSU wiki I realized that there is an incredible lack of organization. So I have taken it upon myself to personally organize the OSU wiki as best I can. One example of how I intend to do this is my plan to change the Greek Life page. Upon clicking on the Greek Life page one will see a large list of Fraternities and Sororities. But I believe that this is not a comprehensive view of the Grrek Life at OSU nor is it organized well enough for easy referencing. So I plan to add multiple new links such as, "Greek News," and "Upcoming Greek Events." In addition I plan to take the whole list of Fraternities and Soroities and place them behind their own links titled, "Oregon State University Fraternities" and "Oregon State University Sororities."

I have also decided to add myself, Adam Dunlap, to the student list as well as categorize the Student Living page by adding Off-Campus Living and On-Campus Living as well as Alternative Living links. I then also plan to briefly comment on the Diakonos Christian House where I live.

Overview of My Wiki Contributions

My contributions to the OSU Wiki were aimed at multiple tasks. These tasks included two specific clubs (the Gymnastics Club and the Parkour club) as well as the Student Living page and overall organization of the OSU Wiki. Although I believe that I did a good job of making these contributions I was side-tracked along the way and ended up leaving even more posts throughout the site. Also, at the beginning of this term while the OSU Wiki was still in its infancy I felt that I was able to successfully keep it organized. But as more and more people began to add information to it I realized that organizing the OSU Wiki is too large a task for one person. So after doing my best, which proved to be relatively inadequate, I decided to write an OSU Wiki Posting Rules and Procedure Manual that will hopefully direct individuals to keeping the OSU Wiki organized as it is created.

Edits within the recreation page

  • Edited the Dixon Recreation Center description to be more comprehensive.
  • I created the OSU Clubs page by adding it to the Recreation including sub-links of “College of Business Clubs,” “Political,” and “Sports Clubs.”
  • I created numerous links and sub-links for appropriate clubs within each sub category. Examples of direct links include the political club links Finance, Resistance Training, and Badminton. Examples of sub-links include the Martial Arts sub links of Aikido, Judo, Karate, Kendo, and Tae Kwon Do.
  • Wrote the club information for the Gymnastics Club and the Parkour Club
  • I created and formatted the Parkour club page including providing a internet link to a prominent Parkour website.
  • I also create a page on the only existing OSU Parkour group to date named Escape for which I am a member.

You have fixed a lot of formatting problems and structuring problems. You need to add content to some pages but you seem to be off to a good start. You really added to a lot of teachers. This is good but others need to contribute. That you cannot change obviously. Good Job and I think you are one of the few who actually added significant information.

I think you should concentrate on only a few things because you have so many listed, and the one large one; re-organizing the OSU wiki is quite a large task. I think you have a lot of good ideas, and you have the right idea on what to contribute to the OSU wiki.

You have been doing a lot of work, it looks nice. I like what you had to say about the professors that you edited, it was not degrading to them or anything. Keep up the good work.

The one thing that I may question you on is the OSU Wiki. That would be a big task. But other than that, you have some good ideas.

Coming up on the deadline for our OSU Wiki contributions and seeing the contributions that you have made really is something cool. You have added some great stuff all throughout the OSU Wiki. The one thing that intrigued me the most was the Parkour site that you added. I also liked that you had the audacity to add the rules and regulations guidlines to the wiki. Although, one thing I would like to see you build upon is the Rate You Professor page. I noticed that you only gave one synopsis for a professor. You should add a few more explanations about some of your other professors. It would be very helpful information to everyone!
