Summer Session - What's it all about?
When students first hear about OSU's Summer Session they usually think that it's similar to the high school version of "Summer School", but it's not. OSU's Summer Session is really just summer term! The big difference is the added flexibility and opportunities for students in comparison to the regular academic terms (Fall/Winter/Spring).
- Session 6 (Jun 18 - Jun 22) Intersession/Zero Week - Session 1 (Jun 25 - Sep 07) 11-weeks - Session 2 (Jun 25 - Jul 20) First 4-weeks - Session 3 (Jun 25 - Aug 17) 8-weeks - Session 4 (Jul 23 - Aug 17) Second 4-weeks - Session 5 (Aug 20 - Sep 07) 3-weeks
Note: we are aware Session 6 is at the beginning of the list, but that's because Session 6 did not exist when Sessions 1-5 were originally set up.
Accelerated Courses
One really unique aspect of Summer Session is that it offers courses in varying lengths (2 days to 11 weeks) during 6 different sessions. This allows you to finish even more courses in a shorter period of time. Fully admitted undergraduate students [1] are allowed to take up to 19 credits, while graduates can take up to 16. Students admitted as 'non-degree seeking' [2] students do not have any restrictions on maximum allowable credits.
Everyone Pays In-State Tuition
Many out-of-state students stay in Corvallis to attend OSU for the summer so they can take advantage of the lower tuition and fees, since everyone pays in-state tuition.
