A Spring Intramural Sport that involves using your feet, thighs, head, and chest to direct a round ball past the other teams players and across the goal line. This sport involves no hands unless you are the goalie. The goalie is the only team player that can use their hands as long as they stand in what is known as the "Goalie Box". This is the box surrounding the goal that signifies where the goalie can use his or her hands.

Soccer Terms and Definitions

Goal - The act of getting the ball to cross all the way over the opposing teams goal line which results in a point for the scoring team.

Goal Line - The line in between the goal posts

Touch line - The line that designates the field of play on the sides of the field.

End Line - the line that designates the field of play on the ends of the field.

Half Line - Self explanatory.

Bicycle Kick - the act of jumping into the air and throwing your legs over your head to make contact with the ball and landing without hurting yourself.

Throw In - When the ball crosses the Touch Line it results in a throw in by the team that did not touch the ball last.

Goal Kick - When the ball crosses the end line off of the offensive team, the other team receives a goal kick to restart play.

Corner kick - When the ball crosses the end line off of the defensive team, the other team receives a corner kick to restart play.
