Pets
Pets can be a person's best friend, or just something to keep you company when you don't want to deal with people. Here is a page that lists different places to get pets, different places to take pets, and other ins and outs of the world for those who own or want to own a pet.
Places to Get Pets
There are many different ways you can get a pet, depending on what you are looking for. Here are some of the local or just easy ways to find a companion you are looking for.
-Another option is to try the classified ads. Locally there are two main options for newspaper ads, the Gazette Times and the Oregonian. The Gazette Times is the Corvallis newspaper and has a specific section labeled livestock for animals. Gazette Times. The Oregonian is seen more as a statewide newspaper containing information pertaining to cities from Portland down to Corvallis and more. When searching for a pet in the Oregonian you enter information such as zip code and it also gives you an option to select different sources of classifieds in different areas. The Oregonian
Kinds of Pets for You
If you are energetic and like to be outdoors a lot, then a dog might be the pet for you. Most dogs need to be walked at least once a day and, for the first couple of years, need someone home for most of the day. Cats are significantly more independant but also like occassional attention. I know that many people have allergies due to animals. If you're allergic to dog fur you should get a dog with hair, rather than fur. This way you can still have that best friend you've always wanted without worrying about allergies. The following are dog breeds that have hair, not fur (I got this information from the allergy escape website): Poodle, Labradoodle, Bichon Frise, Havenese, Miniature Schnauzer, Kerry Blue Terrier, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Maltese, Portugese Water Dog, Italian Greyhound, Basenji, Chinese Crested, Chihuahua, and Mexican Hairless (Xoloitzcuintle).

Regulations
When interested in getting an animal there are a lot of things to consider, like if it is allowed. No on campus housing allows pets that are not service animals. Even if the housing is not on campus you must be sure with the landlord or manager if certain apartments or house allow animals. In those that do, you still must notify the correct authorites and usually pay an additional pet deposit. Look at the Off Campus Page to check if there are apartments in your price range that allow pets.Off Campus Living
Another important part of regulations that you must follow when you own the pet are ordained by law. According to the Corvallis Police Department there are a lot of laws regarding how pet owners must act. Here from their site is a brief list of some of the laws regarding pets. CPD.
