Young Life
Young Life is a Christ Centered, community driven mission that reaches out to adolescents through relationships and helps them grow in their faith. In other words, we are an organization that focuses on getting to know kids in the community and mentoring them through one of the hardest stages of life, middle school and high school. College age students and adults hang out with kids and meet them where they are. We have 'club', which is another way to build friendships with them. They will hang out with their peers and the YL leaders playing crazy games, watching hilarious skits put on by the leaders and then are given the opportunity to hear a short message about Jesus Christ. Our goal is to not force religion on any of the kids, but to give them a chance to experience the love of Jesus Christ. Check us out on our local website[1] or the official Young Life website[2].
Club
Club is an event that happens once a month for middle school kids and once a week for high school kids. YL leaders get together and plan out skits, games, and other fun activities for the kids in the effort to give them a fun place to hang out were they can get to know kids from their school and the leaders who are mentoring. Check out these great pics of some of the kids at club.
Some YL areas hold club at a home and other areas, like Corvallis have been given the opportunity to hold club at Timberhill Athletic Club. The kids have a good hour or so to play basketball, raquet ball, volleyball, swim, and just hang out before the leaders put on the skit, games, and a short message about the Bible. The cummulation of all the clubs in a year lead up to camp at Wildhorse Canyon. There are other camps around the world, but the Oregon and SW Washington kids usually make the journey to Wildhorse. The goal of camp is for it to be the best week of their lives.
