Newport

From OSU Wiki

Newport and Depoe Bay are home to some of the best lingcod and rockfishing in the state of Oregon. Charters regularly run out of both of these towns, and with fishing conditions being as good as they are, you'll easily cover the price of the charter with the amount of meat you'll put in your freezer. Limits (that's 6 fish) of rockfish are very common, and it is not uncommon to pull up a 30+ pound lingcod. Also, halibut opened May 11th and the charter boats have been reporting regular catches of 40+ pounders. Newport [1] is the closest coastal town to campus. If charters do not fit your budget then the Embarcadero Resort (http://www.embarcadero-resort.com/) will rent small boats that you can take out around the bay for fishing or crabbing. The Embarcadero also has its own crabbing pier and rents out crab rings and sells bait. There are also other piers and jetties that a person can fish or crab from. The Oregon Coast Aquarium and OSU marine research center are attractions in Newport as well.
