First off, coming from a business major, I was surprised this was one of the options for "back core" classes, because I didn't think the material for the class would be relevant for me. That being said, all of my friends told me to take this class because it wasn't too tough, and it was an interesting class. Basically I show up and I get an A.

I dont know if Mitchell teaches any other class, because he told us this was his first time teaching this class, but he is a very tough teacher! He assigns sometimes 3 chapters of reading for the next class which could add up to about 80 pages. I understand that there should be a good amount of reading, so I'm not really complaining about this.

The worst part about his teaching style is his pop quizzes. 70% of the class is based on pop quizzes that you have no clue on what or when the quiz is about. He hardly ever lectures, therefore its hard to say what quizzes are going to be about. His quizzes have some questions on them that are on the smallest section of the book, so you pretty much have to memorize your readings.

In almost every class, all you do is join up in your groups and discuss readings/papers amongst each other. Class time is not used up well at all. Then at the end of the class, he will assign a group project that is due in two days. This is sometimes nearly impossible due to different schedules amongst group members. We still have yet to be able to have everyone show up to group meetings because of the short time spans he gives us.

I dont reccomend taking this course with Jason Mitchell as the instructor. Its a course that really is unneccesary for most majors, and not worth lowering your G.P.A. Students Beware!!
