William Kittredge was the author of 21 books, as well as numerous essays, short stories, and screen plays. He is well known for co-producing "A River Runs Through It," which starred Robert Redford. He has received many regional and national literary awards, as well as editing 23 anthologies of western literature. He also served for many years as the head of the creative writing department at the University of Montana.
