Alpha Kappa of Kappa Delta

Basic Info

The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Kappa Delta is located at 305 NW 25th St. Our chapter as of now is the second largest sorority on campus behind Tri Delta. We recieved the largest pleage class of 23 members this fall recruitment. There are over 180,000 initiated members and we are growing all the time. There are 205 established chapters, and 486 charted alumnae associations.

Our Object

The object of Kappa Delta Sorority is the formation and perpetuation of good fellowship, friendship and sisterly love among it's members; the encouragement of literature and education; the promotion of social interest; and the furtherance of charitable and benevolent purposes.

Our Purpose

The purpose of Kappa Delta Sorority is to promote true friendship among the college girls of our country by inculcating into their hearts and lives those priciples of truth, of honor, of duty, without there can be no true friendship.

Our Open Motto

TA KALA DIOKOMEN

Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest.

The Kappa Delta Creed

May we, sisters in Kappa Delta strive each day to seek more earnestly the honorable and beautiful things.

May we each day through love of those within our circle learn to know and understand better those without our circle.

May the diamond shield that guards our love find us each day Truer, Wiser, More Faithful, More Loving and More Noble.

Philanthropy Involvement

Our house has four national philanthropies, more than any other in the nation. Our biggest philanthropy is for Prevent Child Abuse America. Every year Kappa Delta, as a national organization, has raised or donated over $6 million to PCAA. Our chapter does Mock Rock to support this cause. Mock Rock is the biggest sorority philanthropy on OSU's campus. Our other philanthropies include the Childrens Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, American Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, and Girl Scouts of the USA. Every fall our chapter holds a haunted house for local Girl Scout Troops, a teddy bear picnic in the winter, and a group outing in the spring. Each year over 300,000 hours are spent on KD philanthropies throughout the nation.

National Women's Friendship Day

In 1999, Kappa Delta created National Women's Friendship Day so that we could celebrate the amazing bonds that women have with other women. The 3rd Sunday of every September is National Women's Friendship Day. Alpha Kappa Chapter participates in NWFD by volunteering or running in The Race for the Cure, held in Portland every fall.

The Dove Campaign and Kapppa Delta

Kappa Delta just recently has joined forced with Dove to campaign for real beauty. Kappa Delta is the first ever sorority to joins sides with a big corporation like this one.
