Johnson, Bob
From OSU Wiki
Bob, who I had for BA 213, is the best professor I have had at Oregon State thus far. He definitely knows his stuff, and has a great background as a CPA and Accountant for HP to share many experiences he has had in the field of Accounting. His lectures are a mix of PowerPoint and chalkboard, as he works out each homework problem the day it is due to make sure that students get a good feel for how to do the problems. Each class an assignment is due, and he grades mainly on effort, meaning that if you complete the assignment on time and attempt all of the problems, you should receive full credit. The 2 midterms are both multiple choice, and include many different problems to work out, as well as a few important definitions from the text. Bob does a great job of going over what will be on each test, and what are the important aspects to study. BA 213 was a great class, and Bob's frequent Edge and Dilbert inserts into the PowerPoints made it that much more enjoyable.
- I am currently taking BA 340 with Bob and so far all I have to say is that he is a great professor. He always makes sure that he has his student’s attention and that he is getting them involved. He provides PowerPoint lectures but elaborates on them in class which helps understand the concepts further. He is very friendly and is very helpful during his office hours. Another great thing about Bob is that he adds in little side jokes from time to time which helps, especially if Finance is not your forte. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking Bob for Finance; the class is interesting and really informative.
