Joni Huntley was one of America's greatest female high jumpers. She used the famous "Fosbury Flop" technique create by her fellow OSU alum Dick Fosbury and made 3 consecutive olympic teams starting in 1976. She set the American outdoor high jump record in 1975. She also set the indoor American record and was named Oregon's outstanding amateur athlete, winning the Hayward Trophy. She won the Bronze medal in the 1984 olympic games and was ranked #1 in high jumping 5 times during her career.
