HMONG
Histroy
It started about 3 years ago, the club was small. There were only 7 members who joined the club. Since there was no Hmong club, they thought it would be nice to start a one. The members had an idea of what the goal is for the club: increase awareness. They wanted, not only Oregon state to know about the club, but outside of the campus.
Now, throughout the Northwest, the HMONG Club is well-known.
Activities
In the past, they did a skit about the refugees in Laos and Thailand- how they escape the war. The skit was wonderfully played out, so when the Seattle New Year approach last year, they asked the HMONG Club to perform the skit. This was a great accomplishment for the club because not only that they get to increase awareness. They also get to edcate people about the Hmong history.
There is a volleyball night @ dixon, every Thrusday. It's to get some exercise and relax from all the studying. Come and play.
In the summer, there's an annual park potluck. They'll meet at Blue Lake Park. The officers will come up with activites to get to one each other, socialize or talk about the summer vacations.
Every year in the winteror spring term, there is a Hmong event. The event is to let people know who or what the HMONG Club is about. There are skits, fashion, brief history of who Hmong is, and FOOD!! This year the event is held on Feburary 3.
Meetings
Meetings are now open to anyone who is interested in the club, want to meet new people, or come and check what the club is up to is more then welcome to come to the meetings.
Time: every other wednesdays @ 6pm in the MU. Location may vary, depending on whether it's booked or not.
