Gill Coliseum

The arena opened in 1949. It is home to the Oregon State University Beavers basketball team. It is named after famed basketball coach Amory T. "Slats" Gill who had a 599-392 record in 36 seasons. Gill is also home to many other sports, such as volleyball, wrestling, cheerleading, and many high state competitions.

Capacity

Gill can hold up to 10,400 people.

Location

Gill Coliseum is located on the southwest corner of the Oregon State campus at the corner of 26th Street and Washington Way. The building is located across the street from the CH2M Hill Alumni Center and next to Reser Stadium.

Tickets

Athletic events are a popular activity for students. However, the ticketing policies can confuse students and dampen the fun. This is why it is important to understand the various ticketing policies.

General: The tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. These are the hours tickets will be distributed. The employees are not going to debate the ticketing policy. They will explain the rules and why the rules are in place, however, they will not ignore the policy "just this once". It does not matter how long you waited in line, the policy is there for a reason. They don't joke about tickets.

Student ID Information: Student IDs are necessary. A student must bring their ID if they expect to get a ticket. Students are not allowed to bring someone else's ID, unless it is an Affiliate ID of their spouse. The ticket office will not distribute tickets to "sob stories". Your ID is your responsibility, you should always have it. Also, if your roommate or friend is in class, it is their responsibility to pick up a ticket, you cannot pick up a ticket for them. One ID can pick up one ticket. You will still need your ID to enter the game. A student ticket is not enough, you need to be able to prove you are a student of OSU. If your ID comes up on the system as "Lost" it is the policy that a ticket cannot be distributed. A trip to the ID center will fix the problem. It is a policy, not a personal attack.

Football: Student tickets, with the exception of the Civil War, can be picked up starting Monday morning the week of the game. Tickets are distributed from the front ticket booth of Gill Coliseum. This is the outdoor booth facing the new parking garage. Some students take the action of camping out the night before the tickets begin distribution to ensure a good seat. If you want to sit with your friends at the game, wait in line together. The tickets are reserved seats, each have a given section, row, and seat number. They are assigned seats. Tickets are distributed in order of preferential seats. The earlier the ticket is distributed, the better the seat will be. For some games, it is possible to purchase a companion seat for students who have a visiting guest. These are sold on a first come first served basis and a student is required to purchase the additional ticket. This ticket will be in the student section along side the OSU student. A student is required to pick up their student ticket before a companion ticket may be purchased. If there are student tickets still available Friday afternoon when the Ticket Office closes the remaining tickets will be available for distribution four hours before the game at the front ticket booth.

Men's Basketball: Tickets are distributed from the Ticket Office, room 107 in Gill Coliseum. Your ID is still necessary. Floor seats are usually reserved for students who are members of The Beaver Dam. Men's basketball tickets are distributed as general admission within a section. This means students are assigned a section, but the row and seat occupied are left to the whim of the student.

Women's Basketball & Volleyball: Individual tickets are not distributed for these sports. OSU students just need to show their student ID at the entry gate of Gill Coliseum. The front ticket booth is not the place to show your ID for these games. Just showing the person taking tickets is enough.

Baseball: Tickets will be available in 107 Gill Coliseum the week of the game. If there are several games during the week, three in a weekend for example, all can be picked up at the Ticket Office at one time. They will stop being available the weekday before the game (i.e. if the game is Friday, Thursday is the last day for students to pick up tickets). Unlike seasons past, students will not be allowed to come and go as they please during the baseball games. Due to the overwhelming success of the team the past few years, tickets are in high demand.

The Ticket Office is not in charge of the security of the events. However, the Ticket Office informs the security of the various ticket types. The level of strictness of enforcement of seating is in the hands of the security personnel. The Ticket Office cannot guarantee your assigned seat will be enforced by security.
