Floating the River

Since we've been having such nice weather here lately, a favorite summertime activity has become popular again. Floating down the river on tubes and rafts is a great way to beat the heat and relax. People frequently put in at Willamette Park (in southtown) and float to the boat launch just south of the bridge. This normally takes about an hour and is a great way to cool off after sitting in hot classrooms all day. Make sure you stay to the left when you're nearing the bridge, unless you plan on having a friend pick you up in Albany. Also, if you're in a raft, make sure to have a life jacket for everyone on board. Even rafts count as boats and the $240 ticket is something that you want to avoid.
