An Oregon native and graduate of Madras High School, Jacoby was the highest-drafted OSU baseball player of all time. As the leadoff hitter and center fielder, he led the Beavers to the College World Series in 2005, their most successful year of all time. Jacoby was drafted in the 1st round of the MLB draft by the Boston Red Sox, one of the most storied franchises in major league baseball. Jacoby is currently playing Advanced Single A ball with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. He is doing extremely well, with a .308 batting average so far this season. Red Sox officials believe that in several years, Ellsbury will be ready for his major-league debut.
