Detroit Lake

Detroit Lake

Detroit Lake is located about 85 miles miles from Corvallis. It has great camping areas, public access to the lake, and a marina for those of you who have boats. The town of Detroit is pretty small so there is not a lot to do within the town, however there are a couple good restaurants and a convenience store that has all your needs for a relaxing weekend on the lake. Once summer hits there seems to be a lot of people that flock up there so if you are planning on going it would be wise to call up some of the campgrounds and make sure they aren't booked. Or better yet find someone that owns a cabin up there and just stay with them.

Driving Directions

There are a couple different ways that you could drive up to Detroit. You leave Corvallis, travel down OR-34 East then take I-5 North for about 26 miles, take exit #253 and travel east on OR-22, just follow OR-22 until you reach Detroit (around 50 miles).

For a more scenic drive you could drive more of the back roads, take the exit at Albany and follow 226 up through Scio and then on to Stayton, once you are in Stayton you can jump on to OR-22 and be on your way. It cuts down on some of the mileage but it may or may not save you any time.
