Bars/Nightlife

Rate The Bars
Everyone wants to know which bar is going to be hot on which night. Just give your opinion of your favorite bar and why, or leave a nevative review for a bar if for some reason you don't like a particular bar. Just keep adding so everyone has a good idea of what every bar is all about.
Tailgaters
A 21st b-day party always makes for a lively bar visit, especially when they get kicked out. Glad to see the new managment it really needed it.Tailgaters is often hit and miss if it is not busy, you are better off going somewhere else. Tailgaters is a good hookup bar, it has a dance floor where everyone grinds on each other, and so if you are not there to hookup, you still can have a laugh watching the people.
Suds and Suds
Great to chill and have a beer or 2 with your buddies, but not quite the college hangout that it could be. Watch the specials if you go on the right nights you can get out of there for cheap.
Peacock
Lots of people there on Thursday, Loud music, and $1 beers what could be better. Drawbacks are: sometimes over crowded upstairs, and drunks singing same song over and over, and most of all so loud you can barly talk to anyone.
Sanchos
Small bar but cheap shots and the Sanchos specail is great. Drawbacks are: never that much going on, and bathrooms outside of bar which sucks after a few beers. Recomended for a laid back night or on the way somewhere else.
Endzone
Hit and miss, fun when there is people, but if it doesn't look crowded through the windows keep walking to the next bar. Nice set-up but bring cash because only the main bar takes cards, and waiting to get a drink at the main bar or waiting to get cash from ATM might take all night.
Platinum
Dancing, girls, alcohol, what more could you ask for? If your not into dancing this may not be the place for you, because there is no real room to sit.
Clodfelters
Clodfelters has some of the best bar food in Corvallis, it is a little high priced for food and alcohol. If you just turned 21 it is a good place to go because they will give you a free pint glass, but you do have to by the beer. All in all clodfelters has a good atmosphere, and I would recommend it if you are passing by. Every wednesday at 7pm and 9pm is pint night. You buy the wednesday special beer and you get the beer endorsed pint glass for free.
Mcmenamins
Newest addition to the list of bars on Monroe. The one down town has been a fun place to go for years, but do to its location has not pulled the college aged crowd in as well as it would like. So the additional Mcmennamins right near campus on Monroe is just what they needed to do. Great atmosphere and great beer. Personal favorites beers of mine are the Ruby and the Wheat. The drawbacks are that they do charge a little more for their beers and food then most bars, but both are great.
Local Bands

amadan
- Another amazing band that describes its' sound as "Stout Irish Music". Always a great time and a great show. Who can resist butt-kicking Irish music set to beer.
ArcWeld
- Talk about rockin', these guys (and one awesome female drummer) are what might be called sinister, but not in a weird Marilyn Manson way, more in a Sabbath/Melvins way. Another group of people with deep Corvallis roots and a solid reputation for good shows.
Debra Arlyn
- A one word summary – beautiful. Not only referring to this singer/songwriter’s looks, but her voice as well. Native to Corvallis, she has many accomplishments to be proud of. She won the Oregon Idol contest a few years back. She has been named one of Music Connection Magazine’s Top 100 unsigned artists of 2005. Some of her songs have even been featured on the WB television show “Related”. She is definitely a talented musician, who has what it takes to make it big. A pop sound mixed with her soulful voice, with some occasional funk, sets this girl apart from any other pop-diva. The cherry on top, is that she writes all her own songs and stays true to herself.

The Hounds
- I've only been able to see these guys once and it was only for a few songs. But these guys know how to have fun. They have an awesome funk-reggae-rock sound. Their band is made up of five members, that includes guitar, bass, drums, percussion, keys and trombone. If you get a chance to see these guys definitely check them out!
Muckraker
- Coming on the scene just recently, and rockin' a strong female drummer as well, this band is a punk mix of Agent Orange and Hank III. All coming from established bands from Corvallis and Portland, they really know how to put a song together and put on a show.
Stairway Denied
- I haven't had the pleasure of seeing these guys yet but I sure have heard about them. A Led Zeppelin cover band that puts on a really great show and has the talent to please even the harshest critics. I haven't heard a bad thing about these guys and if they would ever play on a night I could go I would for sure!
- I actually have had the pleasure of seeing these guys and they are really amazing! At first, being a Led Zeppelin fan, I wasn't too sure if I would like their show but now I love them and tell all my friends about them! One aspect I really enjoyed is that they stayed true to the original songs and actually sounded like the real thing at times. This band is very talented and I would highly recommend to anyone--whether they're a fan of the music already or even if they've never heard of Led Zeppelin before--to go to their shows. They definitely put on a great show for everyone!
Tourist
- This is a great band to see if you like high energy pop/punk music. These guys have been around the Corvallis scene for a long time and have a core following. One of the best bands I've seen in Corvallis since I moved here from Portland.

Food and Drink Specials
Here you can read about where to go and on what day or night of the week to find the best specials on food and BEVERAGES. Seven days a week, Monday thru Sunday, you can always find a great deal.
Monday
Every Monay evening Fox and Firkin, located on 1st St., offers $1.50 beers of Pabst Blue Ribbons and 15 cent chicken wings (as many as you desire). This is the perfect place and perfect meal to have when you want to enjoy Monday night football with your friends.
Tuesday
There is always a lot to do on Tuesday nights. Tailgater's Sports Bar and Grill is a hot spot for college students because of their 50 cent tacos and their $1 Budweiser beers. If you are not so much a beer drinker, you can walk just around the corner literally 30 feet from Tailgater's, and head over to Sancho's Mexican Grill where every Tuesday night from 9-11 p.m. they sell their $1 Tequila shots and three Jellow shots for $1 as well. Another Tuesday night hang out is the unique bar at the top of Monroe street, Bombs Away Cafe. On Tuesday nights Bombs offers pints of microbrew for only two dollars a piece. If you are looking for somewhere more low key on a Tuesday night and just want to relax and enjoy a cocktail, head down to AJ's on 2nd street and enjoy a couple of two dollar White Russians. They're delicious.
Wednesday
Not as many things to do on Wednesday as there is on Tuesday, however, Clodfelter's offers their "Pint Night" which means if you purchase any pint of beer, you get to keep the souvenir pint glass that is featured at the bar that night. You can take as many as you want until they sell all of their sovenir glasses. Now, some people may not want to spend that much money at "Pint Night" so you can always make your way down to AJ's and indulge in some $1 domestic beers.
Thursday
For being the most popular night of the week to go out you can definitely expect there to be a wide variety of places to go. Stop by "80's Ladies Night" at Tailgater's where females can buy two drinks for the price of one. This is always a fun place for the girls, but downtown is really the place to be on Thursday. In just a three block radius you can go to Platinum Promo where they sell $1 beers and two dollar well drinks; Peacock Bar and Grill where they sell $1 draft beers and $1.50 beers; The End Zone where they sell $1 Budweiser and Bud Light as well theri two dollar well drink special; Senor Sams/Cantina hosts their "U Call It Night" where you can order any drink you wish for only three dollars. and finally, AJ's where their special of the night is three dollar Long Island Iced Teas.
Friday
After a long hard night on Thursday, it seems that Friday is not much of a day for finding amazing specials. But, you can make your way to Senor Sams/Cantina "Big Beer Friday" where 24 oz. beers only $2.50.
Saturday
As like Friday, it seems that actual weekend days are harder to find those specials everyone is looking for. However, Senor Sams/Cantina is the one place that still holds it down on the weekends. Saturday night is Cantina's turn to have "80's Ladies Night." Just like Tailgaters, Cantina offers two drinks for the price of one for females only. Guys, I recommend having your girlfriends order your drinks on these particular nights.
Sunday
Well, the week started on Monday with Fox and Firkin having their $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon beers and 10 cent chicken wings, and the week also ends with $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon beers and 10 cent chicken wings. Realistically, you can wait around five days for this special, then hit it up two days in a row. On Sunday evenings you can also stop by Highland Bowl which is the local bowling alley in town. Sundays they offer $1 beers and $1 games of bowling. You can't beat that!
Every day of the week
We have all heard of "Happy Hour" haven't we. If not, happy hour is just about a two hour period where you can get beer and other drinks for cheap, before the night crowd starts rolling in. Don't think I was going to leave this out. There are several places you can hang out on Monday thru friday for happy hour specials. They are as follows:
- Squirrels Tavern - 4:00-6:30 p.m. ($2.75 micro pints and Eight dollar micro pitchers)
- El Presidente - 4:00-5:30 p.m.
- American Dream Crowbar - 4:30-6:30 p.m.
- American Dream Campus - 7:30-close (two dollar beers or a pint and a slice of pizza for four dollars)
- Old World Deli - This is not a happy hour but it is a ridiculaous deal I could not leave out.
Four dollar 64 oz. pitchers and 90 cent beers (Hamms)
