Statistics Feedback

This class is very HIGHLY into the math and equations and all these convoluted ways of finding statistical information. I, at first was very worried about doing well in this class because every time I went, there seemed to be another (or ten) concepts that I just did not understand. I had all of the slides with me in class and went to every class, and when I actually had it explained by the teacher, it became a LOT clearer. GO TO CLASS. We also did practice problems in class that really helped on the exams. There was so much material to remember and equations to know how to apply that I was very scared when exam time came around. But you get a page of notes on the midterm and a page front and back for the final, so you don't really have to memorize all the equations (thank goodness). I did pretty well actually, but the tests take forever! You come out just exhausted.

I actually took this class last term, and from what I've heard from friends taking it now, the entire class is now composed of these tutorial disks. I think that this way of 'teaching' is basically a 'teach yourself' approach and should only be for people who want to take this class online. There's something that you get in class with your peers that you can't get by just sitting in your room watching and taking notes from a disk. That, and the disks take SO MUCH MORE TIME than actually going to a class. My roommate is always watching these tutorials for hours...there seems to be no end. Hopefully this new way of 'teaching' this class is just temporary...This class is difficult as it is, and if you can't go to class to ask questions, that's just more confusion and frustration for you.
