About
Created around the idea of entrepreneurship, the program is located at reciently renovated Weatherford Hall. While many people feel entrepreneurship is a business school of thought; all students are welcome. The program allows students to live, and work together in Weatherford Hall, creating a sort of "think tank" for new innovated ideas and businesses. There are a number of courses and ancillary programs contained within the AEP. These include SIFE, AEP TICK and State Farm Visiting Fellows, and the OSU Entrepreneurship Society.
Entrepreneurship Minor
Currently at OSU students may recieve a minor in entrepreneurial studies. The full requirements can be found at the COB website. Courses involved include Introduction to Business Law, Entrepreneurship, Fundamentals of Accounting, and Venture Finance. This is a great program for students who are non-business majors that want to learn more about owning their own business or how to impliment interpreneurship skills within their future career. One of the key elements taught through this minor is entrepreneurial thought, which focuses on opportunity recognition and idea generation.
Programs
Statefarm Visiting Fellows
Weekly the AEP brings in leaders throughout the business community to meet with students. While visiting, they are generally available for dinner, fireside chats and coffee in Bing's Cafe. These meetings occur weekly during the school year and are a great resource for expanding your contact network; not to mention the experience these executives share. For more information please see the State Farm Visiting Fellows website.
AEP T.I.C.K.
The Austin Entrepreneurial Program - Team, Individual, Community, Knowledge program is one of the most comprehensive of its kind at any university. Students develop a portfolio of achievement that can be used to show experience to potential investors or employers. Each of the four areas contain competencies that students must complete to finish their portfolio. For more information please see the AEP TICK website.
Entrepreneurship Society
An COB club, which currently does not hold meetings. In the past it would bring in local business leaders for meetings where members could discuss things related to the experience of the visitor, much like the Statefarm Visiting Fellows program. For more information please see the OSU Entrepreneurship Society website and a link to the programs wiki at there Entrepreneurship Society page.
S.I.F.E.
A national organization with an OSU based chapter. The following is borrowed from their website: "The purpose of OSU SIFE is for students to apply their classroom experiences to outside business uses with the help of faculty and advisors. Skills learned in market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and business ethics are applied to real life business situations." For more information please see the SIFE website.
