This wiki was created on January 2, 2006 as a learning tool for BA271, Information Technology in Business, a course taught at Oregon State University. It provides students with a sand box in which to learn about editing a wiki without affecting an actively used wiki.
During the term we will use this wiki for two basic purposes:
As an in-class exercise, students will create and revise a User Talk page that contains a bit of information about themselves.
As part of the midterm exam, students will write an essay in their User Talk page. This seems to work better than having students write an essay on paper ...
The midterm exam asked the students a question about how to prevent wiki vadalism. Although there is no way to actually prevent wiki vandalism, as virtually anybody with internet access is able to add to or alter material in a wiki page, it can be contained by checking the wiki page regularily, and editing out offensive, unrelated, or incorrect material...
