Menus can be administrated from the Menus link under the Site building area of the Administer section.
From here, you can list all existing menus, add a new menu and edit settings.
All of the menus items of a partiuclar menu are listed on this page. To view another menu, select it in the drop down box and click on the Show Items button. Under this button are options to edit or deleted the menu and to add a new menu item.
You can change the name of the menu by clicking on edit.
To delete the menu, click on the delete link under the menu you wish to delete. You will then be presented with a confirmation; hit the delete button to continue or click on cancel to return to the menus page.
You can also add a new menu item to a particular menu by clicking on the Add item link. See below for more information on adding new menu items.
Following the option links is a listing of all the menu items within that menu. Each level of the menu is indented once from the previous level.
For each menu item, you can perform several operations, each of them listed in the drop down box. The first option is to edit the menu item. This form works the same way as the add menu item form. Please see below for more information on adding new menu items. There are also the options to disable or delete the menu item. Disable will hide the menu item, but keep as part of the menu, whereas delete will remove the menu item completely. The next option is display expanded, which always expands a menu item showing it's sub-items. The following options allow you to add a new item above or below the current menu item. Lastly, you can add a new menu item as a sub-item, creating a child menu item.
For each menu item, you can move it up or down in the menu. Also, the parent item is listed for each menu item.
You can set up a new menu by clicking on the add menu tab. Here you can specify the name of the new menu.
By clicking on add menu item, you can a new menu item by filling out the form. Enter the name of the menu item into the title field. You have the option of adding a description to the menu item. This text will display when hovering over the menu item. This is a great way to add extra information to a menu item.
The path field is where you enter the URL of the page you want to display when the user clicks on the menu item. This path can either be an absolute link, i.e., starting with http://, or an internal link. An internal link will be relative to the directory that Drupal was installed in, i.e., your root directory.
Following the path field is a checkbox for the expanded setting. If a menu item is set to be expanded, then its children will be visible any time the item is visible. If it's set not to be expanded, then its children will only be visible when the user is on the page associated with the menu item, or on any of the pages associated with the children menu items.
After that is a drop down to set the parent of this menu item. This can be a menu or another menu item.
This last item in the form is the weight option. This controls the ordering of the menu items within the menu. Please see the weight tutorial for more information.
These settings control which menu to use for the primary links and whether to restrict which menu new content can be added to. These settings will be set by the administrator when the site is built and shouldn't need to be changed.
