Creating a Page - Part 2

Hot Topic:
No

This tutorial is an extension of the Creating a Page tutorial. Please review that one as a prerequisite to this one.

After adding your body text and selecting your categories, you can fill out your menu settings and URL path settings.

Menu settings

This section controls how the menu item for your page is displayed.

Title is the text for your link. Description is an additional explanation, if appropriate, that appears when a user hovers their mouse over the text, and also is used by screen readers to provide additional information about the link.

Parent item is for you to select the main category for which your page will be a sub-topic, or child.

The weight is how you organize the menu items. The minus numbers are lighter and will rise to the top. Plus items are heavier and will be lower in the menu order. Items that have the same number will be listed alphabetical. (See Weight as a separate tutorial item for in-depth instruction and examples.)

URL path settings

URL path settings is to enable you to create a friendly URL instead of using the default node and number. This is especially important if you will be advertising the URL for this page.
