Giving to the College

Today, thanks to a clear vision of service and outstanding start-up support, the College of Veterinary Medicine is ready to seize 21st-century opportunities to become a leading veterinary program. This includes the development of signature programs of excellence in oncology, cardiology, and infectious disease research; statewide extension services; and the encouragement and advancement of rural veterinary practice.

A Transformative Gift

LBAIn 2005, the College of Veterinary Medicine received its largest contribution to date, a $21 million estate gift from the late Lois Bates Acheson, a 1937 OSU graduate who had a lifelong love of animals. The College named the Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital in her honor. Establishing an endowed deanship and a college-wide endowment, the gift created a strong foundation — and now presents the opportunity, with additional support, to build a premier College of Veterinary Medicine in Oregon.

OSU’s most important contribution to the future remains, as it has always been, its graduates.

In the case of the College of Veterinary Medicine, students’ contributions start immediately and are seen daily in the expert, compassionate care of animals; the protection of human health; the support of key economic sectors; and the nurture of the special bond between people and animals. Your investment will be meaningful and consequential for the College of Veterinary Medicine, Oregon, and the world for years to come.
