Biomedical Research is conducted in the College, supported by federal agencies such as NIH, USDA, DOE, as well as by a number of foundations. Collaboration with the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station, College of Pharmacy, and many other colleges, is part of the program. The research is of economic and public health significance, aimed at improving the health of animals and people.
The College emphasizes research of infectious diseases, such as the ones caused by Mycobacteria, Chlamydia, Clostridia, Vibrio, Mycoplasma, Cryptosporidium, Herpes virus, respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, HIV-1 virus, Calicivirus. Research on immunity and nutrition, neuroscience, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, reproductive diseases, and diseases of terrestrial and aquatic wildlife are also carried out in the College.
Specific interest has been placed on diseases of livestock, poultry, and other commodity groups.
