Just when I think that each season is the most beautiful on the OSU campus I am proved wrong once again. Summer was nice with its dark greens and warm heat, but fall was gorgeous once all the leaves turned red and orange (which blended well with the colors of the football team), I even liked cold frosty winter, with the dark mossy tree trunks and bare branches. But spring has got to be the best. I think every type of flower there is has to be in bloom on campus: giant white bushes and trees with pink flowers, yellow daffodils and tulips of every color. Even the lawn has scattered dandelions (which Andy refers to as "weeds"). All of this beauty is accompanied by fraternity brothers playing frisbee, girls lying out in the grass and the smell of a bar-be-que somewhere in the distance. Yes, spring is finally here.
With all the new-ness of the spring season I've been trying out a few new things also. I sadly realized that I was not involved in anything, which by definition makes me a failure as a college student. So, I joined the on campus honors club which will have its first meeting next week, it is a club completely devoted to community service and good grades, something I hope I can combine. I wrote a local non-profit organization that deals with AIDS patients about helping out and they were willing to send me as much information as I needed. In the fall I get to start taking calls from the hotline and (hopefully) go to schools to raise awareness to highschool and college students. Tuesday night I went to a game night at a sorority to check out that part of social life. I'm not sure if I'm going to join but I figure even if I don't at least I'll make some good friends out of it. Then last night I went with my friend Jennifer to her church for college night to hear hering and meet some of her friends.
Since every college student needs to be active in some aspect of the community I'm hoping that all of this will lead me to my calling.
