Sustainability
University Housing and Dining Services is committed to environmental practices that protect and preserve our communities resources. We commit to the following:
- Maintain membership and support of the Food Alliance which supports sustainable agricultural policies
- Buy from local ranchers and farmers such as Country Natural Beef, Strawberry Mountain Natural Beef, Rain Sheep Farms, Rain Shadow El Rancho, Riverwood Orchard and Farms
- Support OSU raised produce
- Purchase hormone free milk and dairy products from local dairies
- Purchase local and/or organic produce when available
- Purchase from local bakeries and local businesses when possible
- Compost all pre-consumer vegetable waste
- Purchase bio-degradeable/compostable to-go containers and silverware
- Use only transfat free oils in the preparation of food
- Recycle used vegetable oil to Albany Bio-fuels for conversion to bio-diesel fuel
- Power our OSU Catering trucks with bio-diesel fuel
- Utilize an all electric delivery van for OSU Catering
- Provide leftover products to Linn-Benton Food Share
