Community Involvement
Part of the vision of OSU is its sense of stewardship and commitment to community. Dining Services participates in several activities throughout the year that support this overarching vision.
On a regular basis dining services supports the Food Rescue Project, a part of Access, Inc. This project takes excess food from the dining centers, following safe food handling procedures, and uses the food to feed the homeless and less fortunate.
Annual Events
Food Drive
Dining Services has participated in the annual OSU food drive for the past four years. Food and money donated for this drive goes to the Oregon Food Bank. Each year the dining centers come up with creative ways to increase donations to this annual event. We have had every type of incentive from head shaving to tank dunking and beyond.
Holiday Donations
Dining staff currently participate in annual family adoptions for the Christmas season. Each dining center finds a family, usually with children, who need a little help during the holidays. The dining staff purchase gifts for children and bring food for the family for Christmas.
Charitable Fund Drive
Each year the university encourages each department to participate in the Charitable Fund Drive through automatic pay deductions.
