University Housing & Dining Services

Accommodations & Amenities

Accommodations

Our guest accommodations feature twelve residence halls. They are grouped in complexes on the east, south, and west sides of campus. These standard- and suite-style residence halls comfortably accommodate 200 to 325 guests each. University dining centers are located near all on-campus housing.

  • Our standard residence halls have corridor style floor plans.
  • Guest rooms are double occupancy and located along each side of the corridor, with stair and elevator access (unless otherwise stated) to each floor.
  • Limited single-occupancy rooms are available.
  • Residence hall bathrooms are located on all floors at the end of each wing or section. They are designated as "male only" or "female only", reflecting the gender of guests staying in that wing or section.
  • Our beds are twin size
  • Three of our halls, Bloss Hall, Halsell, and West, are designed in a suite arrangement. Two double-occupancy rooms (same gender) adjoin each other through a connecting bathroom.
  • Ethernet access is available in rooms for guests who bring their laptops

For convenience and comfort of our guests in any of our residence halls, laundry facility privileges, linen service, and floor lounge privileges are optional amenities you may select.

OSU has also contracted with Housing Northwest to renovate and provide management for the Gem (formerly the College Inn). This facility can accommodate adult groups of up to 70 depending on availability. Contact them directly at: 541-713-7222, email: info@thegem.org or web: http://www.StayAtTheGem.com.

Facility Assignments

Residence hall and dining center space allocations are determined based on the following criteria:

  • The number of guests arriving
  • The type of housing and meal plans selected
  • Building preference (when feasible)
  • The needs of all the groups requesting conference services during the same period of time.

During peak season, there is a high demand for our housing and dining services. If you have any questions, please call Conference and Hospitality Services and we can assist you.

Checking In

Regular check in time is 3 p.m. and checkout time is 11 a.m. When you arrive on campus for your conference we will have our conference staff ready for you at the central office in your conference residence hall or the area service center. We will have your key, meal card and express checkout envelope ready for you.

Checkout Time

Checkout time is 11 am on the day of your group departure unless other arrangements were approved in advance. Express checkout allows participants to put their key(s) in an envelope and place the envelope in the key drop at the hall office at any time. Checkout dates and times are posted at the hall office and on each floor on checkout day.

Linen & Custodial Services

The "with linen" amenity is based on your guarantee. Linen service includes two flat sheets, one pillow, one pillowcase, one blanket, two towels, and one washcloth. Clean linen "packs" are placed in each guest's room by our custodial staff. Guests make their own beds upon arrival. Towel exchange is offered daily in the hall offices. Bedding is exchanged weekly for long-term groups. For the "no linen" option, guests need to bring bedding and towels with them. Our custodial staff cleans and disinfects bathrooms and common areas of the halls each day; individual rooms are cleaned prior to guests' arrival or upon their departure.

Common Areas in the Residence Halls

  • Small guest lounges are available on each floor by prior arrangement with UHDS conference staff; furniture typically includes chairs, couches, and/or tables.
  • The main lounge (first floor) is available for use of all conference groups residing in the building.
  • A laundry room is located in each hall for groups requesting this option.
  • Kitchenettes are not available for use during summer.
  • Public pay telephones on the first floor of residence halls are available for guests' use.
  • Elevator access is available in all halls except Sackett.
  • For the safety and security of our guests, the front entrance doors of each hall will remain locked at all times. Adult guests will receive keys to the front door. Youth guests will need to be accompanied by an adult (such as staff, chaperone, or camp counselor) for building access.

Room & Outside Keys

Youth participants will only be issued one room key. Adults in both youth and adult groups will be issued a room key and an outside door key. We ask that you stress the importance of safety and security as it relates to keeping track of keys. The conference sponsor will be charged for all lost keys not returned at checkout even if the participant returns the key after departure. Replacement cost for room keys is $30 and replacement cost for outside door key is $10.

Telephone Service

Telephone service in residence halls is limited. Active local and campus telephone service is available in each room; however, telephones are not provided in the rooms. If a member of your group would like to bring their own telephone to use while staying with us, they are welcome to do so. One pay telephone is available on the 1st floor in each building. Emergency telephones in yellow boxes are located just outside the main entrances of each residence hall and are available at no charge for local or on campus calls.

Internet Service

Each room has high-speed Internet access at no extra charge. Your computer will need a high-speed network connection (Ethernet - different from a modem) and a network cable. To sign-up just fill out this form for each computer you wish to connect. If you fill out the form before you arrive, your connection should be ready when you check-in. Otherwise it may take up to one business day to get connected.

Parking

Parking at Oregon State is limited and all OSU Conference Complex guests are subject to the parking rules and restrictions as determined by the OSU Parking Office. We will gladly help you obtain your permits prior to arrival if you let our conference service staff know the number of permits you need. The cost is $5/day or $20/ week and will be added to your conference bill. If individuals wish to purchase permits they may do so on the day of arrival.

  • Parking permits are required at all times and all vehicles are subject to ticketing/towing.
  • All vehicles properly identified as handicapped, with valid OSU parking permits, may part in handicapped spaces in all University lots.
  • The costs of parking permits are $5/day or $20/week. Parking permits are NOT needed on Saturdays or Sundays.

Security & Safety

OSU is nestled in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Corvallis is a small town with a warm community atmosphere. It is a safe and inviting place to hold your conference. University Police patrol the residence halls at night and Conference Services has staff available to assist you 24 hours a day. Building entrances are locked when the conference desk is closed and all side doors are locked 24 hours a day. For extra precaution please note the following safety tips.

  • Do not prop outside doors. This allows access into the buildings by unauthorized people.
  • Know your neighbors. If you find someone on your floor that you do not recognize as part of your camp, particularly if they are behaving suspiciously, report it immediately to your Camp Counselor, Camp Director, or conference hall staff.
  • Always lock your room and carry your room key. We have experienced occasional thefts in the conference halls during the summer months, especially in rooms that were left unlocked while people were away at a program or camp session outside the residence hall.
  • Do not leave money, wallets, purses, or other valuables in plain sight. Put them in a drawer or closet where they are not visible or accessible to someone casually walking by your room.
  • Do not invite strangers into your room or conference hall.
  • Do not hang out windows or go out on window ledges.
  • Use fire escape landings for emergency purposes only. Do not hang off, sit, or play on or around the fire escape balcony railings.
  • Do not endanger others or create a mess by throwing food or other objects out the window or off balconies.

For emergencies only, call 911 from campus phones or 911 from pay phones. For non-emergencies, or to file a crime report call Oregon State Police (OSP) at 7-3010.

Special Needs & Accessibility

We recommend that your conference registration materials include information about medical or mobility needs that may affect full participation in your on-campus event.

  1. Please let us know if a conference registrant has special needs.
  2. We will send the conference registrant a more detailed questionnaire to help ascertain specific housing and/or dining accessibility needs.
  3. We will then contact the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) office on campus to identify accessible accommodations for our guests.

Services for Students with Disabilities offer assistance in satisfying the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it pertains to our campus. If you have questions or concerns, contact us or call the SSD director at 541-737-4098. Our overall residential program at OSU meets the access requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Selected rooms and entrances in McNary, Poling, Sackett, and West halls are designated as wheelchair accessible. However, other residential facilities that we use for summer conferences are not fully wheelchair accessible. If a youth guest with medical or mobility needs requires an accessible room in a different residence hall (other than the one reserved for the entire conference group), the sponsor is to provide live-in, adult supervision in that building as well as the residence hall where other conference participants are staying.

With advance notice and upon request, we can provide TTYs and smoke detectors for guests who are hearing impaired. Certified assistive animals may accompany guests with medical needs who require their assistance while staying on campus.
