Holiday host biographies

Knowles Family

Chris and Melissa Knowles are an Assistant Professor and Office Specialist at OSU who will be sharing Thanksgiving with their two daughters and some neighbors (9-13 people, adults and children ages 4-13).  They are looking for up to 2 students to join them for a day of socializing, watching football, and a Thanksgiving dinner that includes some Texas cooking traditions. 

Pets: 1 small dog who occupies the entire house

Time: 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Menu: Traditional Thanksgiving dinner at night (turkey, potatoes, salads, pies, etc.), appetizers throughout the day, alcohol will be present

Dress: Informal dress (jeans and a shirt/sweater/sweatshirt appropriate for the weather conditions)

 

Clevinger Family

Catherine Clevinger is a grants coordinator for the College of Public Health & Human Sciences who will be sharing Thanksgiving with her daughter at her sister’s home with her sisters and nephew in Eugene (up to 15 people will be together).  She is looking for up to 2 students to join them for a variety of activities that could include playing soccer, walking the trails through a park, and socializing.  Family professions include two respiratory therapists, one of the first female civil engineers and her retired husband with a degree in agriculture, two mechanical engineers who work for the Corp of Engineers, and a registered nurse. 

Pets: 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 geckos in the house, and chickens in the backyard

Time: approximately 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (depending on what student would like to do)

Menu: Traditional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, potatoes, salmon, bread, salads, dessert, etc.) with gluten free options around 3 p.m. with snacks beforehand

Dress: Dress code is relaxed, especially since outdoor activities often occur

 

Grossman-Napels Family

Ari and Melissa Grossman-Napels are the Associate Director of Printing and Mailing Services at OSU and a Psychotherapist who will be sharing Thanksgiving with their two sons and twin daughters.  They are looking for up to 2 students to join them for Thanksgiving dinner on November 28 and celebrating Hanukkah on November 29. 

Pets: 1 large dog and 3 medium cats

Time: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Menu: Vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner, Latkes (potato pancakes) and vegetarian Hanukkah

Little Family

Wendy and Matthew Little are the Marketing Coordinator for RecSports at OSU and a Civil Engineer at CH2MHill who will be sharing Thanksgiving with their 1-year-old son.  They are looking for up to 2 students to join them for a meal, games (indoor and outdoor), and conversation. 

Pets: 1 large dog who occupies the entire house

Time: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Menu: Traditional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, potatoes, salads, pies, etc.)

Dress: Casual dress

 

Langevin Family

Connie and Steve Langevin are an OSU student and a Web Developer who will be sharing Thanksgiving with their 15-year-old son.  They are looking for up to 2 students to join them for a meal, games (board or video), and socializing. 

Pets: 1 medium dog and 2 cats who occupy the entire house

Time: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Menu: Traditional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, potatoes, vegetables, desserts, etc.)

Dress: Casual dress
