UESP offers a comprehensive range of services to help students make informed decisions about their academic coursework and potential majors they're considering.

These services include:

*Individual advising appointments with trained advisors.

*Assistance with choosing a major and other forms of academic counseling.

*Help with understanding OSU's academic policies and regulations.

*Assistance with web registration and scheduling issues.

*OSU First-Year  Advising Syllabus

*UESP advisors (together with their colleagues across campus) aim to assist students in the process of fulfilling numerous learning outcomes while they are at OSU. *ALS 114 Career Decision Making - Our advisors coordinate and team-teach this two-credit letter-graded class. It provides OSU freshmen and sophomores with guided career exploration in a classroom setting and is offered fall, winter, spring, and summer terms. It is available both on-campus and on-line.

*Access to SIGI3©, a Web-based career exploration and planning module supported by UESP and Career Services.

*UESP is located in the Academic Success Center and is staffed by four full time coordinator/advisors and two graduate assistants. We also have other trained advisors who assist during peak advising times in the second half of each term. The full time advisors are:

Mission Statement

The mission of the University Exploratory Studies Program is to provide academic advising and career assistance to undergraduate students, both new and transitional, who wish to investigate the educational opportunities available at Oregon State University. In accordance with Oregon State University's mission, we strive to create and facilitate a compelling learning experience for our students.

The UESP advisors aim to assist students in making well-informed decisions regarding degree programs and course selection, obtaining accurate information regarding academic programs of study, making connections with academic college head advising offices, assessing career goals in relation to interests, skills and values and accessing other sources of assistance and student support provided by OSU.
