Heads OSU’s wheat breeding program; joined OSU in 1998; has been responsible for the development of nine wheat varieties; holds the Warren Kronstad Endowed Chair for Wheat Research at OSU; has served as the chair of the National Wheat Improvement Committee since 2005; has traveled to Capitol Hill to promote funding for wheat research; led efforts to fund wheat research needed to combat emerging diseases, including Ug99 stem rust; he and USDA colleagues received an Honor Award from the secretary of agriculture in 2008 for their role in developing a national strategy in response to Ug99.
