CORVALLIS, Ore. - More than 1,000 Oregon State University freshmen are taking part in a team-building exercise on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Memorial Union Quad on the OSU campus.
The OSU Challenge Course and Recreational Sports program are providing a portable team-building course on the quad to help students make connections with their peers through several problem-solving initiatives.
The program, co-sponsored by the College of Engineering, will promote communication, goal setting and teamwork, all important aspects to navigating college.
“Our goal on this activity is to get incoming students doing engineering from day one,” said Ellen Momsen, director of the Woman and Minorities in Engineering program at OSU. “Many students think engineering is all about math and science, but don’t realize the importance of teamwork and communication skills. These activities will give students a chance to practice those skills.”
