Bob’s Red Mill owner speaks at OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Bob Moore, founder of Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods, will give a free public talk on Friday, April 17, at Oregon State University. His presentation begins at 3:30 p.m. at the C&E Auditorium at LaSells Stewart Center, 26th Street and Western Boulevard in Corvallis.

Moore and his wife, Charlee Moore, founded their business in an old abandoned mill in Milwaukie, Ore., in 1978 with a commitment to supply healthy whole grains to their local community. Recently their business moved into a new 325,000 square-foot headquarters in Milwaukie that has nearly 200 employees and produces and ships more than 400 whole grain products worldwide.

The talk will include the company’s history and the principles on which the Moores have built their business. He will discuss their unique methods of producing natural foods and the strides the company has made in providing gluten-free foods.

In 2008, the Portland Business Journal honored Bob Moore and the company with two awards in the agricultural category: Moore was named CEO of the Year for 2008, and Bob’s Red Mill was No. 3 in the 10 Most Admired Companies in Oregon.

Moore just celebrated his 80th birthday and continues to work a full schedule every week, guiding the activities of the mill, overseeing new product development, and representing the company at various trade shows around the country.
