OSU Announces Agricultural Honors Scholarships

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Honors scholarships totaling $86,250 have been awarded to Oregon State University students in the College of Agricultural Sciences. The scholarships are made possible by gifts to the college.

Recipients of the 2007 scholarships are:

AURORA: Shelby Armstrong, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 A/B Technologies International, Inc. Agricultural Honors Scholarship, the $500 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the John & Florence Scharff Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

BEAVERTON: Marisa Pomerantz, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 CHS Foundation Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

BEND: Katherine Peed, junior majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 A/B Technologies International, Inc. Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Jacquelyn Smith, freshman majoring in food science and technology, received the $1,500 Malcolm Johnson Scholarship and the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

CANBY: Justin Beaudry, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

COOS BAY: Jessica Walker, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the 1,000 Clifford Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

COTTAGE GROVE: Nicole Chappelle, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and $1,000 from the Agricultural Honors Scholarship Program Fund on behalf of the Lane County Farm Bureau Scholarship.

DALLAS: Madilynne McGuire, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Summers Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

DAYS CREEK: Steven Sands, freshman majoring in fisheries and wildlife science, received the $1,000 Jernstedt Family Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

DAYTON: Jordan May, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Jernstedt Family Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Talitha Zellner, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

DUFUR: Guy Simer, freshman majoring in fisheries and wildlife science, received the $750 Walter J. and Florence J. Jaeger Undergraduate Scholarship.

EUGENE: Jacquelyn Beyerlein, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and $1,000 from the Agricultural Honors Scholarship Program Fund on behalf of Lane County Farm Bureau Scholarship; Shannon Daul, sophomore majoring in fisheries and wildlife science, received the $1,000 Lawrence E. & Marguerite Kaseberg Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Gina Hoppe, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 John & Florence Scharff Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Charles Rodriguez, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship; Stacy Smejkal, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Peter St. George, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Wilco Farmers Agricultural Honors Scholarship; Amanda Watts, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

FOREST GROVE: Abby Corliss, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Fisher Implement/Ernst Hardware Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

HERMISTON: Tasha Harrell, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 A/B Technologies International, Inc. Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

HILLSBORO: Suzanne LeSage, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Wilco Farmers Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

JOSEPH: Margaret McClaran, freshman majoring in rangeland ecology and management, received the $1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $1,000 Loren J. Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

KEIZER: Mary Swearingen, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Savery Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

LAKE OSWEGO: David Johnston, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman Scholarship; Tabitha Wolf, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Clayton Fox Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

LAKEVIEW: Anneke Tucker, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Karla S. Chambers Leadership Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the 1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

MAUPIN: Taunie Lewis, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 Eugene H. Fisher Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

MILWAUKIE: Sarah Laumb, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 CHS Foundation Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

MYRTLE CREEK: Amy Barkhurst, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

PORTLAND: Charlotte Roehm, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Summers Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

SANDY: Kaci Sintek, freshman majoring in environmental economics, policy and management, received the $1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $1,000 Summers Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

SHERWOOD: Renee Hlasnik, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship and the $1,000 Naumes Family Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

SPRINGFIELD: Krystal Browning, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Paul & Frances Montecucco Beginning Venture Scholarship.

STANFIELD: Jessica Erwert, freshman majoring in agriculture business management, received the $1,000 CHS Foundation Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

SWEET HOME: Erika Snow, freshman majoring in bioresource research, received the $1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund and the $1,000 Loren J. Smith Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

THE DALLES: Eliza Broehl, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Charles E. and Clara Marie Eckelman Scholarship and the $1,000 Ursula Bolt Knaus Scholarship.

TILLAMOOK: Kelly Powell, freshman majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Lawrence E. & Marguerite Kaseberg Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship.

TROUTDALE: April Rudolph, junior majoring in animal sciences, received the $1,000 Frank Burlingham Memorial Agricultural Honors Scholarship and the $1,000 John W. DeMuth, Jr. Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

WILLAMINA: Heather Bennett, freshman majoring in general agriculture, received the $1,000 CHS Foundation Agricultural Honors Scholarship.
