OSU'S "Cool Shoes" dance troupe to hold spring concert

CORVALLIS - Oregon State University dance troupe Cool Shoes will perform dances ranging from the Lindy Hop to waltzes in a spring concert on Saturday, May 17, at LaSells Stewart Center.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 for general admission; $7 for students and seniors. They are available at Rice's Pharmacy, the OSU Women's Building Room 123, and at the door one hour before the event.

The 25-member Cool Shoes troupe is comprised of students from all over the university, including freshmen through graduate students.

"Everyone in Cool Shoes shares the burning love of dance," said director Cathy Dark, "and it is this passion that they hope to convey to the entire audience."

This will be the 13th year that Cool Shoes has performed a spring concert at OSU. The May 17 performance will include Savoy and Hollywood style Lindy Hop, the cha-cha, a waltz suite, the West Coast swing and the hustle.

Joining Cool Shoes on stage will be The Joint is Jumpin' Lindy Hoppers of Eugene, junior and senior Hoolyeh folk dancers, and students from OSU's modern dance program.

OSU's Department of Exercise and Sport Science is sponsoring the concert.
