BEND - Oregon State University-Cascades Campus today outlined details of its scholarship fund dedicated to students who are attending the campus and studying majors offered by OSU.
Scholarship funds totaling as much as $150,000 a year will be generated from endowment earnings through the OSU Foundation. The foundation-funded awards, based on an investment equivalent to a $3.5 million endowment, will provide as many as 60 scholarships per year, officials said.
"This was one of the key objectives we had in creating OSU-Cascades Campus," said Henry Sayre, assistant provost of academic and student affairs. "Bringing dedicated scholarship dollars to Central Oregon provides a critical resource to students considering a university degree."
The OSU-Cascades Campus scholarship fund will focus on three areas: academic merit, financial need and promoting diversity. Awards will be made over the course of the academic school year, and applications for 2001-2002 are being accepted now. For more information or an application, call OSU-Cascades Campus at 541-322-3100. The review process will begin Sept. 10.
"The Oregon State University-Cascades Campus scholarship fund is another exciting milestone on the way to creating a university focused on students' needs and Central Oregon's unique perspective on higher education," said Sayre. "It also demonstrates the solid commitment OSU-Cascades Campus brings to its partnership with Central Oregon Community College and the community."
Students dually enrolled in COCC and OSU are eligible to apply for a scholarship, as well as those upper division students completing OSU degrees through OSU-Cascades Campus.
