BEND - Susan Hopp, an Oregon educator with a broad background in student services, campus life programs and career development, has been appointed the new director of advising and enrollment services for the Oregon State University Cascades Campus.
In that role, Hopp will work to develop a new academic advising program at the campus that is student focused and helps coordinate the advising and career planning needs of students taking programs not only from OSU but also the other partner institutions. She will also oversee admission, registration, financial aid and orientation functions.
"One of Susan's key challenges will be to take the different advising and enrollment services staff from eight different universities and COCC, and develop a coordinated and integrated program that is simple for students to navigate," said Bob Bontrager, assistant provost for enrollment services at OSU. "Her exemplary record of accomplishment will ensure that the vision of a seamless student experience at OSU Cascades will be realized." Hopp has a master's degree in student personnel administration from Indiana University and is now completing a doctorate in public administration and policy. She is currently the associate vice provost of enrollment and student services at Portland State University.
In that position, she also serves as director for student development and campus judicial officer. Hopp previously has been an assistant vice president and director of campus life at Lewis and Clark College, and director of residence life at Western Oregon State University.
Hopp has worked in such areas as student and career development, recruitment, orientation, retention, housing, student services, diversity issues and many other fields. She also taught courses on community leadership, adult learning, student leadership and other topics. Hopp will begin her position with OSU Cascades Campus on Aug. 15.
