CORVALLIS - Homecoming Weekend at Oregon State University will feature the high-energy sounds of Pepe and the Bottle Blondes, a Portland-based salsa-swing band that will play Friday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. in Gill Coliseum.
Pepe and the Bottle Blondes feature a combination of music and theater, playing Latin songs, swing standards and show tunes. They have been featured at "The Bite" on the Portland waterfront, the Britt Music Festival in Jacksonville and play regularly at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland.
"We are working with the rest of the campus to create a great weekend of Homecoming activities," said Mitch Barnhart, OSU athletic director. "This event should be a great, fun answer for students, alumni and the general public on the Friday night of that weekend."
Mike Corwin, associate athletic director, said a dance floor will be erected in Gill Coliseum and special concessions will be available.
"Pepe and the Bottle Blondes will appeal to a wide-range of people," Corwin said. "Swing music is very popular on campus but this band performs a show as much as they do a concert. While some people may decide to dance, others may want to simply sit back and watch the band."
All tickets will be general admission. Tickets are priced at $10 for the general public and $5 for OSU students. Tickets are available at the Gill Coliseum ticket office.
