CORVALLIS - Oregon State University students will go head-to-head against University of Oregon students on a television game show being taped on Saturday, Oct. 23, at KPTV Channel 12 in Portland.
Teams from each university will compete against each other in a special Civil War version of the weekly High Five Academic Challenge game show. Taping will take place at 4 and 5 p.m. for the half-hour, live audience show. The results will be broadcast on at 10 a.m. on Christmas and New Year's Day. High Five features 50 questions and answers in 10 different categories. Some of the questions are academic and others cover areas such as sports, trivia and entertainment.
OSU team members will hone their skills at a two-hour practice session set for 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, in the campus broadcast studios at KBVR television, said Jane Siebler, head adviser in OSU's University Honors College.
Siebler, who is coordinating the OSU High Five preparations, said the Beaver team wanted to get in some practice performing with television cameras before making the trip to the Portland studios.
High Five began broadcasting in 1993, primarily featuring high school students from throughout the Pacific Northwest. Students from both teams are highlighted during the broadcast.
