Official tour packages available for OSU bowl game

11/19/1999

CORVALLIS - While it hasn't been decided where the Oregon State Beavers will play their bowl game, the university has established a special bowl hotline and Web site so fans can receive information on official bowl tour packages.

Oregon State University is working with Dodds Athletic Tours of Champaign, Ill., to offer bowl-starved Beaver fans a first-class experience as OSU participates in its first football bowl game since the 1965 Rose Bowl. Dodds Athletic Tours has been organizing university athletic tours since 1963 and has worked with the University of Oregon, Washington State University, Arizona State University and others to provide official bowl tour packages.

"It's been a long time since Oregon State has been to a bowl game so it is important to work with an experienced tour provider that will ensure our fans a top-notch bowl experience," said OSU Interim Alumni Director Steve Smith.

Smith said the official university bowl tour will include benefits that Beaver fans won't be able to get through other bowl packages.

"Fans that purchase the official university bowl package will receive priority seating for the game, round-trip air service and ground transfers, accommodations and more. Prices will include admission to the university-sponsored pep rally and pre-game event," Smith said. "Beaver fans are swelling with pride right now and the university's official bowl tour package gives fans a chance to enjoy this historic occasion as a member of the OSU community."

Smith said the OSU Alumni Association's goal is to make this as easy as possible for Oregon State fans.

"You don't have to worry about getting to the stadium or game tickets or comfortable accommodations," Smith said. "We've taken care of that."

Depending on which bowl game the Beavers go to, the official university tour package will look like this:

  • The Culligan Holiday Bowl, Dec. 29, San Diego, Calif. - The tour will be Dec. 27-30 and include round trip air service, three night's accommodations, transportation to and from the airport and the football game, a "Welcome Beavers" orientation, pep rally, game ticket, Holiday Bowl departure gift and souvenir. The cost is $1,175 per person for single and $987 for double occupancy. Triple, quad and children rates are also available.

  • The Wells Fargo Sun Bowl, Dec. 31, El Paso, Texas - The tour will be Dec. 29-31 and include round trip air service, two night's accommodations, a "Welcome Beavers" orientation, pep rally, pre-game event, game ticket and souvenir. The cost is $1,099 per person for single and $974 for double occupancy. Triple, quad and children rates are also available.
