CORVALLIS, Ore. - Clemens Starck, an award-winning author who works as a carpenter at Oregon State University, will read from his new book, "Studying Russian on Company Time."
The reading, which is free and open to the public, will run from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, in the Memorial Union lounge on the OSU campus.
Starck's previous book, "Journeyman's Wages," was published in 1996 and received the William Stafford Memorial Poetry Award from the Pacific Northwest Bookseller's Association, as well as the Oregon Book Award for poetry.
In his new book, he describes his obsession with the Russian language and his visits to that country.
His Oregon State University appearance, sponsored by the OSU Book Store, will follow a two-week swing of eastern Oregon and Washington.
