CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program will work to help young family members and their parents address succession - passing a business from one generation to another - at an April 24 workshop on the OSU campus.
The session, which is offered with sponsorship by U.S. Bank, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in OSU's Bexell Hall, Room 324. The Dixons, owners of Corvallis Hardware, will host a mid-morning tour of their business.
A similar program will be offered at a separate workshop on April 17 in Prineville.
Multi-generational teams of two are required to register for the workshops. Cost for the workshop is $75 for the team or $50 for the team if they are U.S. Bank customers. To register, or for more information, call toll-free 800-859-7609 or 541-737-3326.
Designed as a hands-on, "to-the-point" workshop, the focus of the session is to give multiple generations an opportunity to learn the basics, share experiences and concerns with other families, and develop an action plan for succession.
With discussions within and between generations, and hands-on learning activities, families will consider issues such as leadership, ownership, relationships and experience. Participants will learn about effective planning and have a chance to hear from a panel of family business members who will share their succession stories.
